SOLVANG
DANISH CAPITAL OF AMERICA
Solvang has an “authentic” Danish atmosphere in the town center. The city is known for the number of bakeries, delicious pastries, restaurants, and merchants offering a taste of Denmark on the California Central Coast. The architecture of many of the façades and buildings reflects traditional Danish style. A replica of Copenhagen’s Round Tower or Rundetårn in the scale 1:3 was finished in 1991 and can be seen in the town center. The Mission Santa Ines is one of the California missions. The nearby, picturesque Cachuma Lake and surrounding area, is a beautiful place to visit.
Solvang is part of the Santa Ynez Valley. It was originally inhabited by the Chumash Indians. The Chumash Casino is an impressive Casino and Hotel with an amazing Spa. Solvang has so much to enjoy; the 700-seat open-air Festival Theater, museums, gambling, and countless areas to bike and hike.
