San Luis Obispo offers world-renowned places to enjoy the region’s wines, from humble tasting rooms to palatial vineyards. Award-winning restaurants with farm to table cuisine and fresh seafood are plentiful. The cities in this unique area on the Central Coast are quite diverse. In one part of the county is a booming college town that buzzes with energy. The city of San Luis Obispo has an interesting and eclectic nightlife and art scene. A walk down Higuera Street, in the middle of downtown is sure to delight. It is lined with boutique shops, specialty stores, wine and beer tasting, trendy restaurants, jewelry stores, and several types of galleries too.
Many of the restaurants even offer creekside dining on impressive outdoor patios. Other parts of the county have pristine lakes offering water sports, fishing and boating. Campers come from near and far to enjoy the magnificent beauty of this region. San Luis Obispo County is also a fun place to enjoy outdoor fairs and festivals, some of which happen year round.
The weather is great most of the time and "SLO", as the locals call it, is just a really fun place to visit. With oceanside cities like Avila Beach, Pismo Beach, and Shell Beach, so much of what you encounter is breathtaking. Come to relax, come to hike, bike, surf, paddle board or fish, just come even if it’s to simply lay on the beach and watch dogs catching frisbees…or to dip your toes in the surf and play in the tidepools.
Oceanside choices for dining and fine resorts are in abundance in SLO. Pismo, Avila and Shell Beach are phenomenally beautiful beach towns. Scenic bays, beautiful beaches, and fun boardwalks. SLO has it all.
